Coulson beats Cormier in two-hole playoff

Both players finished with 144 at the Amherst Golf Club

Marc Bourgeois wins Pro Division with a score of 141

AMHERST – The two-day Amherst Open wrapped up today with Truro’s Paul Coulson beating Amherst’s Matt Cormier in a two-hole playoff in Amateur Class, Division 1 play.

The competition was held Wednesday and Thursday at the Amherst Golf Club.

In the pro class it was Marc Bourgeois taking the win.

Amherst Open Results:

– Pro Division

Marc Bourgeois won the Pro Division with a score of 141, followed by Dan McNeely with 142, and Kevin Dugas with 146.

Bourgeois shot a 70 and a 71, Dan McNeely shot a 74 and a 68, and Dugas shot a 75 and a 71.

– Amateur Class, Division 1

The second and final day of Division 1 play finished with Truro’s Paul Coulson and Amherst’s Matt Cormier tied at 144.

The game went to a playoff and Coulson after tying at the first playoff hole, Coulson won on the second playoff hole.

Coulson shot a 69 on Wednesday and a 75 on the second day for 144.

Cormier shot a 70 on Wednesday and a 74 on Thursday.

– Amateur Class, Division 2

Cliff Lowrey led Division 2 play with a 153, followed by Gary Tower with a 158, and then Darrell Kline with a 159.

– Amateur Class, Division 3

Mike Dawson won Division 3 play after shooting a two-day total of 162, followed by Joe Bourgeois with a 168, and Gary Lucci with a 172.

– Amateur Class, Division 4

Bill Jobes won the Division 4 title after shooting a two-day total of 169, Dave Slade shot a 170, and Kody Wood shot a 178.
