More than 70 horses and riders are expected for the Sixth Annual Super 8 Open Horse Show at Maltby Stables on Saturday.
AMHERST – The Sixth Annual Super 8 Open Horse Show will be held at Maltby Stables on Saturday.
It is an open show with more than $2,000 in money and prizes to be won.
The show begins at 8:30 a.m. with divisions including small fry, walk-trot, junior and senior.
This year’s judge is former Amherst Regional High School principal Frank Balcom, who has also been very active in the Maritime harness racing industry. He is presently a member of Amherst town council.
The show traditionally includes approximately 70 horses and riders from across Cumberland County and southeastern New Brunswick. There have also been participants in the past from Pictou County and Stewiacke.
The event is open to English and Western riders of all ages.
Along with equitation, showmanship and horsemanship classes, there will be horse/pony classes, and pleasure and gymkhana stakes. There will also be a number of fun events including a dash for cash and barrel racing and pole bending competitions.
