AMHERST – Three young Spartans swimmers performed well at a recent regional swim meet, proving they are on track for their provincial championships in mid-May.
“The Nova Tech program offers a progressive introduction to competitive swimming,” said Jan Matthews, Spartans coach. “As swimmers develop their skills and endurance, they are encouraged to compete at the entry level. Once they meet the time standards in specific events, they move on to the next levels.”
Lindsay Jurcina and Rebecca Stone competed as Level 1 swimmers.
Stone swam all best times and placed first in the 50-metre freestyle, second in the 200-metre individual medley, and third in the 50-metre breaststroke event.
Jurcina recorded personal bests in the 50-metre backstroke and the 50-metre freestyle, and placed seventh in the 50-metre freestyle.
Level 2 swimmer, Ella McGuigan, swam to second in the 50-metre breaststroke and placed sixth overall in the 200-metre individual medley. She recorded best times in each of those events.
The girls are looking forward to the provincial championships in mid-May.
