Red Sox hosting Carter’s baseball tournament this weekend

Pioneer Fuels comes on board as team sponsor

Pioneer Fuels has come on board as the sponsor of the Amherst Bantam AA Red Sox, who are hosting the Second Carter’s Sports Cresting Bantam AA Baseball Tournament over the weekend. Ed Everill of Pioneer Fuels presents the sponsorship cheque to player MacKenzie LeBlanc while player Blake Thompson and coach Carl LeBlanc look on.

AMHERST – A week after claiming their second Summerside Invitational tournament in three years, the Amherst Pioneer Fuels Red Sox will host the second Carters Sports Cresting Bantam AA Baseball Tournament.

The Red Sox will be joined by the Enfield Wildcats, Nova Scotia Bantam Girls, Frederiction and Chatham Head in the five-team tournament that begins at 5 pm today at the Robb Centennial Complex.

There are three games tonight and five games Saturday with the final round robin games on Sunday at 10 a.m.

The gold and bronze medal games are set for 2 p.m.

Carly Jackson, who graduated from the Amherst Little League Baseball program and played with the Red Sox, is in her second season with the Nova Scotia Bantam Girls who are hosting the nationals later this summer.

Jackson was last season’s Baseball Nova Scotia Female Minor Player of the Year.

In last year’s tournament, the Red Sox in the championship game to the Cole Harbour Cardinals.
