AMHERST – The wait is nearly over. After a year-and-a-half-long absence, live pro wrestling action returns to Amherst Stadium.

On Friday, Aug. 2, the bodies of Eastern Canada’s MainStream Wrestling Entertainment, slam onto the mat inside Amherst Stadium to raise some more funds for the Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers.

It’s the second consecutive year the hockey club’s President, Jim Henwood is collaborating with the popular wrestling troupe – the longest-operational traveling circuit in eastern Canada.

Based on the success of the inaugural show last year, MainStream owner, Devin Chittick is excited to bring what he promises to be an even bigger show than last year.

“This year’s event features more homegrown talent, such as stars who appear every Saturday afternoon on NTV Television. Amherst fans will get to see some great new talent from Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and abroad,” said Chittick.

TV stars scheduled for the Aug. 2 line-up include: Sexton Phoenix, Newfoundland’s Max Power, and the returning Narcis Saint. Maritime villain Sidewalk Sam plans to get under the fan’s skin once again this year, while Forest Cullen, a Twilight-type vampire, prepares to make his first trip to Amherst from Forks, Washington.

But, Chittick says, it’s the Main Event scheduled for the evening that will leave the audiences breathless: – an every-man-for-himself Over-the-Top-Rope Battle Royal where the last two gladiators standing will battle it out in one of the most thrilling and dangerous matches in professional wrestling: a Ladder Match!

Tickets for Rumble for The Ramblers 2 are available at Mike’s Drive Thru & Convenience on South Albion Street, Amherst (667-4222).
