IVE ISLANDS: Dig out your hand lines or fishing poles; the third annual Five Island Flounder Derby is set for June 14th and 15th with over $2,000 in cash prizes.

"The event is a fundraiser for the fire department, we're trying to raise enough funds for a new fire truck," Dennis Ross event organizer said.

Ross said there were 100 or a little better registrations for this years derby.

"We can't have any more than that for safety reasons. We don't want too many boats out there in the water, we would like everyone to have a great experience with the derby without incident," Ross said.

Ross also explained the prize categories have changed from previous years; this year the prizes will be as follows; first place men and first place women - $500 each; second place men and second place women - $250 each; third place men and third place women - $125 each.

Additional prizes will be first place juniors (age 12 and under) - $100; prize for the largest flounder of each day - $50 and the prize for largest fish (of any kind) of the derby - $100.

In addition to the derby there will be a dance that Saturday evening with hamburgers, hotdogs, chowders and more served at the dance.

The Five Island Fire Brigade invite everyone to come out and take part in this annual fun event.
