Y’s Guys, Lions open 2014 season with wins

Players take shelter during 15-minute rain delay

AMHERST – Amherst Little League A-System kicked off its 2014 season Monday night with the Y’s Guys beating the Casey Concrete Mixers 27-7, and the Lions downing the Cumberland Paving Cubs 6-1.

Y’s Guys vs. Mixers

Jackson Comeau and Tyler Baker pitched the Y’s Guys to a 27-7 win over the Mixers on the Landry little league field.

The two pitchers combined to give up four hits and 11 walks, and they struck out eight batters.

Zack Boudreau knocked in six RBI’s off of four singles and a double, while Jackson Comeau had two RBI’s off a home run, one double and one single.

Connor Austin hit four singles, bringing in three runners, Dylan Goodwin hit one single and one triple, and also brought in three runners, while Tyler Baker had three RBI’s off one single.

Jake Adams had two singles for the Y’s Guys.

Reese Blakeney pitched four innings for the Mixers before Ethan Bishop came in for relief.

They combined for give up 20 hits and 14 walks, while striking out five batters.

Blakeney scored two runners off one single and one double, and Jackson Colborne scored two RBI’s as well off of one single.

Josh Arsenault hit one single for the Mixers.

Cubs vs. Lions

Graden Chitty led the Lions on the mound and at the plate Monday night on the Sonny Foster little league field.

Chitty hit two home runs and pitched the entire game for the Lions, giving up one hit and six walks, while striking out 13 batters.

Cole Stevens also hit a triple for the Lions.

Cal Hoeg pitched six innings for the Cubs, giving up three hits and seven walks while striking out 12 batters.

Brandon Hicks hit one triple for the Cubs.
