Blues beat Mariners, lose to Bay Ducks

SPRINGHILL – The Cumberland County Blues won one and lost one over the weekend during Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League action.

The Blues were at home on Friday where they beat the Eastern Shore Mariners by a score of 9-7. Michael McLure and Jonathan Tattrie both had two goals and two assists in the game.

The first period ended with the Blues up 3-2.

Paul Gulliver, Jesse Colborne and Tattrie scored the three first period goals.

Assisting on the three goals was McLure, Chris Poole, John Welch and Colborne.

The Blues scored three second period goals but the Mariners scored five second period goals, and the period ended with the Mariners up 7-6.

Poole, Stephen Whittle, and Trattrie scored the three goals, with assists from McLure, Tattrie, Zach Anderson, Gil Murdock, Ryan Durrette and Zac Black.

The Blues regrouped for the third period and scored three goals, giving them the 9-7 win.

McLure got the Blues started in the third, with goals being added by Black and a second goal from McLure.

Assists were made by Gulliver with two, and Tattrie, Welch, and Durette with one assist each.

Blues goaltender Jesse Cox faced 67 shots in the game.

The Blues played the St. Margarets Bay Ducks on Saturday, losing 5-4.

Gulliver scored two goals while Jesse Magarvey and Colborne had one goal each.

Whittle hade two assists, Anderson had two, and Magarvey added one.

Julien Savoie played in goal for the Blues. He faced 53 shots on the night.
