MEDICINE HAT, Alta. - An Alberta senior who missed her opportunity to meet royalty 72 years ago is getting a second chance.

Frances Miller — now 81 — will get to meet Prince William and his wife Kate when they visit Calgary next month.

In 1939, Miller was dressed in her finest and had a bouquet which she was supposed to present to Queen Elizabeth, who later became known as the Queen Mother, when she and King George stopped in her Alberta community.

But Miller was left heartbroken when the train carrying the royal couple didn't stop as scheduled and just blew through the station.

Miller says she never thought she would get another chance to meet royalty and she still can't believe her luck.

Miller's local newspaper, the Medicine Hat News, spearheaded a campaign to include Miller in the royal itinerary at the last minute.
