Irene B Gilbert

PARRSBORO – Irene B. Gilbert, age 88, of Parrsboro passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro with her family by her side. Born in Advocate Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Capt. Harry and Charlotte Irene “Lottie” (Blenkhorne) Newcombe. She is survived by daughters, Janet Sterling, Two Islands; Andrea Yorke, Parrsboro; 5 grandsons, Craig (Natasha), Andrew (Darcy) and Chris (Angela) Sterling; Ryan (Sue) and Jake (Gillian) Yorke; 5 great grandchildren, Molly, Alexandra and Leigh Sterling; Maxwell and Elizabeth “Libby” Yorke; several nieces and nephews. As well, “almost-daughters”, Cheryl Cambruzzi and Lori Jamieson; her friend of more than 65 years, Margie Nickerson. She was predeceased her husband, Maxwell; brothers, Victor, Lawrence, Dean; half-brother, William. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service was held 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018, the Rev. Dr. Brian Spence officiating. Burial in St. George’s Anglican Cemetery, Parrsboro.
