Gerald Douglas Jollymore

Gerald Douglas Jollymore
With deep sadness the Jollymore family announce the peaceful passing of their uncle, Gerald Jollymore on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche at the age of 86. Born in Stellarton NS, the son of Earl and Christina (Forsythe) Jollymore on July 5, 1931. In his younger years, Gerald lived in Amherst but moved to Ontario with his family where he did odd jobs and worked in the tobacco fields, but when his brother Bill packed up his family to return home to Nova Scotia, Gerald came along with him where Gerald worked in the woods and blueberry fields for a number of years. He lived in Maccan, River Hebert and finally at Bayview Manor in Joggins, making many good friends wherever he was. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his brother, Bill, and nephews. After he got his own car, he enjoyed his nightly drives around River Hebert and Joggins and going to hang out with the boys at McLellan's Garage. Gerald led a simple life and what he had he appreciated. He always had a smile for everyone he met and was willing to help out anyone, especially his friends at Bayview Manor. Gerald spent his last years under the kind care of the nurses and staff at Willow Lodge where once again he got to go fishing, attend social events, bus trips, and helping to look after the animal farm there and once again made many new friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Bill (William) and Wayne, of River Hebert, and a sister, Roxie Budd, of Digby, NS. He will be sadly missed by his Aunt Lillian Wells of Amherst, several cousins and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). A graveside service will be held for Gerald from the River Hebert Hillside Cemetery on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11 am. Life Celebrant Scott Balser presiding. Donations in memory of Gerald may be made to the River Hebert Hillside Cemetery or the LA Animal Shelter. Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting Gerald's online memorial at www.furlongjones.ca or through the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home Facebook Page.
