Carleen Leslie Card

Carleen Leslie Card
It is with great sadness that the family of Carleen Leslie Card, age 52, of Amherst announce her passing on Monday, May 21, 2018 with family by her side at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Carleen was the daughter of Leslie and Effie (McIssac) Card. Born in Sackville NB she was raised in River Hebert. She got her first real job after spending only a few hours in the blueberry field. She applied for a job at the King Lam and had the job before she even got home. After spending a few months there and moving to Amherst she began work at A&W in the Amherst Center Mall. From there she went to Pizza Delight where she worked for 17 years, doing a super job as hostess, server and whatever else needed to be done. After Pizza Delight it was on to Jungle Jim’s, and finally Duncan’s Pub. Carleen was a great waitress and her patrons were her joy. She also made many friends throughout her working career but never left her childhood friends behind. She loved Bingo and won “big” on a couple of occasions with her Bingo partner Debbie Emslie. The casino was another favourite but the big payout there, never came. Her other pastime was to go out mudding in the jeep and though the adventures were not usually with a large crowd, the amount of fun was huge. She loved to socialize with her friends, of which she had many, including Laurie Willicombe, Joan Murphy, Karen Hawkes, Laurie Mattatal, Karen Chapman, Heather Kinnear, Jean Robinson, Kerri Smith, Shelley Read, Robin McLeod, Lacee Emslie, Lindsay Stiles and her Duncan’s Pub Family. Also left to grieve besides her parents are her daughter Ashley (Kirk) and granddaughter Hayden, Aunts, Uncles and cousins. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 6 – 8 pm, with a Memorial Service to be held Friday, May 25, 2018 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Dan Green officiating all held in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst, 902-667-9906. In Lieu of flowers, Carleen asked that memorial donations in her memory be made to the Cumberland Cancer Assistance Fund, CRHCC Palliative Care, or the VON. Condolences and sharing of memories may be shared with the family via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting the Funeral Home Facebook page.
