Bernice Frances Chapman

The peaceful passing of Bernice Frances Chapman age 93 of Amherst occurred on Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan. While surrounded by her loving family. Born in Nappan, NS, Bernice was a daughter of the late Alexander and Caroline (Finnigan) Rhindress. Bernice will be remembered for being a loving caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother who was always there for her children. She enjoyed competitive sports and in her earlier years played darts and was an avid bowler. Gardening, berry picking and spending time at the cottage was among her many pleasures. She was a member of the Golden Years Club for many years. Bernice will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Diane (Blaine) Haggerty, Quispamsis, NB and Lorraine Treanor, Mississauga, ON; five beloved grandchildren, Rod, Ken, Sean, Rob, and Kathy; five special great grandchildren, Rebecca, Keegan, Garrett, Erynn and Keira; great great grandson, Blaine; best friend and sister in law, Doris Rhindress; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and in addition to her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth; son in law, Donald Treanor; sister, Gladys Porter; brothers, Robert and Ben; sister in law, Eleanor Rhindress. A funeral service to celebrate Bernice life will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Dan Green officiating from Campbell’s Funeral Home Chapel, 98 Church St., Amherst (902) 667-9906. Reception to follow. In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions in Bernice’s memory may be made to the Bridge Adult Service Centre, L.A. Animal Shelter, the Cumberland Regional Health Care Foundation or a charity of your choice.
