Springhill residents busted with drugs, handgun during Oxford traffic stop

OXFORD – Two Springhill residents are facing drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop near Oxford on Tuesday.

John Alan Russell Warner, 38, and Nicole Doris Gallant, 27, were arrested by the Cumberland County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, which seized a loaded handgun, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine in tablet form, cocaine, hydromorphone, cash and drug paraphernalia.

A search warrant was obtained for a home in Springhill where police also seized oxycodone, methadone, crystal methamphetamine and more drug paraphernalia.

Warner and Gallant were held in custody and appeared in Amherst provincial court on Thursday with Warner being remanded until Feb. 26 and Gallant being released with conditions including to appear back in court on March 19.

They are charged with possession of cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphone and oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methadone, possession of a loaded restricted firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm dangerous to the public, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm while prohibited, breach of probation and obstruction of a  police officer.
