Berry fined $2,300

Robert David Gilroy, 46, of Tyndal Road, Cumberland County, was sentenced in court on Tuesday to six months probation and a 10-year firearm prohibition after pleading guilty to the unlawful production of marijuana.

Porteous sentenced for assault, uttering threat

Terrence Stanley Porteous, 63, of Oxford, was sentenced in court on Monday to 12 months probation, concurrent on each count, after committing three counts of assault on three different people.

The three separate incidents occurred in Oxford on Dec. 1, 2013, June 23, 2015, and March 14, 2016.

He was also sentenced to 12 months probation, concurrent to other sentences, after pleading guilty to conveying a threat, by telephone, to one person that he was going to cause death to a second person.

The incident occurred Aug. 24, 2016, in Pugwash.

Wheaton sentenced for assault, obstruction

Joel Daniel Wheaton, 34, of Church Street, Amherst, was sentenced in court on Monday to a six-month conditional sentenced, 18 months probation, 60 hours community service, and a five-year firearms prohibition, concurrent on each count, after pleading guilty to two counts.

Wheaton pleaded guilty to committing assault, and to committing mischief by willfully obstructing, interrupting or interfering with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property at the Tim Hortons restaurant located at 55 Victoria Street in Amherst.

He was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $1,000.

The incident occurred Dec. 14, 2016, in Amherst.
