AMHERST – Visitor restrictions are in place for the South Cumberland Community Care Centre in Parrsboro due to a gastrointestinal illness that is circulating among residents.

Exceptions will be made for family members of critically ill patients and in other special circumstances.

With colds, flu, and stomach viruses circulating in the community, Nova Scotia Health Authority reminds the public not to visit patients in hospital or long-term care if you are ill.

These viruses spread easily from person to person and are more serious for those who are already ill. Good hand washing helps prevent the spread of infection.

Nova Scotia Health Authority appreciates the public's help in preventing the spread of the illness.
