Brandon resident Gilbert Melvin Boyer, 53, was scheduled for a three-day trial in Sydney earlier this month in relation to four alleged sex-related offences.

At that time, Boyer informed his lawyer he was unable to come to Cape Breton, which resulted in the issuing of a warrant for his arrest.

Boyer is charged with two counts of sexual interference involving a person under 16 and single counts of sexual assault and invitation to sexual touching.

The offences are alleged to have occurred between January 2006 and December 2008 in Glace Bay.

Boyer will remain until custody until his trial date on Nov. 8.
