SPRINGHILL – The lockdown at the Springhill Institution has ended.
The lockdown was put in place on July 7 to allow for an exceptional search of the institution.
That search has ended and the institution has resumed its normal operations.
During a lockdown inmates are confined to their cells and all programs and visits are cancelled.
With the lockdown being lifted, visits and programs have resumed.
Correctional Service Canada is strengthening measures to prevent the entry of contraband into its institutions in order to ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.
CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to have contraband brought into correctional institutions.
