Several RCMP detachments have open investigations regarding a series of ATV thefts that occurred in four different counties.
Nova Scotia RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jennifer Clarke listed Lunenburg , Queens and Kings counties and the Tantallon area as examples of places that have been targeted so far.
“Over the past three weeks, RCMP officers in those areas have responded to calls of thefts that have occurred both day and night. ATVs have been stolen that were parked outdoors or secured in garages, both with and without keys,” said Clarke in a press release June 9.
Clarke is urging ATV owners to take added steps to ensure their property is secure.
“This includes storing the ATV in a well-lit, secure location and to never leave the keys in an accessible or obvious location,” said Clarke.
“Given some ATVs have been stolen from secure garages, the RCMP are encouraging citizens to store their ATVs behind parked vehicles to serve as a deterrent to would-be thieves.”
Kings District RCMP members are investigating the theft of a 2002 Forest Green Kawasaki Brute Force 650 ATV that occurred in Sheffield Mills between 9:30 p.m. June 1 and 8 a.m. June 2.
