Amherst – The Cumberland Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU), with assistance from Amherst Police Department, searched a home on Copp Avenue on Mar. 22, locating an indoor marijuana grow operation.

Police seized marijuana plants, dried marijuana, methamphetamine, contraband tobacco, grow equipment and other drug paraphernalia.

As a result of the search, a 40-year-old man from Amherst was arrested without incident. He is facing charges of production of marijuana, possession of Marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking marijuana, and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to attend Amherst Provincial Court on May 28, 2018.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Cumberland District SCEU is comprised of members of Cumberland District RCMP and Amherst Police Department.
