KOLBEC – A 39-year-old man was transported by helicopter to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax following a vehicle-pedestrian collision just outside Oxford on Monday night.

Cumberland RCMP are investigating the incident in which the pedestrian was struck by a dump truck at approximately 7:25 p.m.

The pedestrian’s injuries are not life-threatening.

“It seems as though he’s going to be OK. He has some serious injuries, but they’re not life-threatening,” Cpl. Dal Hutchinson said. “He’s very lucky.”

The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

Hutchinson said charges are not expected against the driver of the truck.

“The driver was not at fault,” he said. “The pedestrian was in the roadway when he was struck.”

Because of the collision, a section of the Kolbec Road was closed while an RCMP collision analyst was on scene collecting evidence.
