AMHERST – Loblaw Companies announced Wednesday the expansion of its popular online grocery service into Amherst.

This service, the first of its kind in the Atlantic region, lets customers shop for all of their groceries online, then schedule a convenient time to pick up their order at their local Atlantic Superstore without even having to leave their car.

“We are dedicated to making our customers’ lives easier and more convenient. Our online shopping allows them to order fresh and pantry items from their home, their work or wherever they are, and pick them up at a time that best fits with their schedule,” said Mark Boudreau, director of corporate affairs for Loblaw Atlantic. “This service has been extremely successful in other markets. As we bring it to our Atlantic Superstore customers in each community, we’ve continued to fine-tune it, ensuring our product offering reflects all the local favourites and best-selling brands our customers expect.”

Based on the success of the launch in larger centres in December 2017, Boudreau said, the decision was made to accelerate implementation. The service was recently launched at stores in Truro and New Glasgow. With the Amherst launch, all Superstores in Nova Scotia now have access to the new service at their neighbourhood store. By mid-May 2018, the rollout will be complete for all Atlantic Superstore and Dominion customers throughout the Atlantic region.

“Our customers in the Amherst area are busy and they look to us for ways to make their lives a little easier – from the convenient products in our stores to this new time-saving service,” said Boudreau. “Our personal shoppers can’t wait to wow them with amazing produce and fresh items chosen just for them.”

Shopping online at www.atlanticsuperstore.ca, customers can browse and add all their favourite products to their grocery cart, including a local assortment. Once they confirm their order online, a customer can pick it up in as little as two hours.

Each order is prepared by a dedicated personal shopper who will select the freshest items possible and make sure everything in the customer’s order is exactly how they want it, keeping the customer’s personal preferences in mind. Staff at Atlantic Superstore will deliver the customer’s groceries directly to their car upon arrival.

Loblaw is expanding its online grocery platform throughout the Atlantic region following its success elsewhere in the country and a growing demand from consumers. Since the service was first rolled out in the Toronto area at the end of 2014, it has now grown to include more than 300 pick-up sites at stores across Canada.

To begin their online grocery shopping experience or to get more information about the new service, customers are invited to visit www.atlanticsuperstore.ca.
