Stephanie Allen of Gateway Development was among the speakers leading learning sessions during the Small Business Week event held at the Community Credit Union Business Innovation Centre on Thursday, Oct. 20.

Sponsored by CBDC Cumberland, Business Development Bank of Canada, the Amherst and Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Town of Amherst, the sessions were held between 9-11 a.m.

“We always try to do events and partner with different organizations to put on an event during Small Business Week just to showcase our small businesses and how important they are in our communities,” said Carys Wood, executive director at CBDC Cumberland.

Speakers and their topics included Stephanie Allen – Stress to Success Discussion; Matthew Guy – Maximizing Promotion – Using Promotion to its Full Potential; and Michelle Bursey – Importance of Small Business Week.

The crowd was small at the beginning of the first session, but more and more were arriving as it went on. The sessions were free and open to the public.

“We get local business people, and supportive partners like the Town of Amherst, councillors, organizations like chambers, and our organizations,” explained Wood. “Partners come in to support small business operators that do come, and they can network and talk and see what they can do to help.”
