COLLINGWOOD – A family of four lost their home and most belonging when fire destroyed a house late Thursday morning in Collingwood Corner, about 15 kilometres east of Springhill.

The mother was at work at the time while her husband and two children - ages eight and four - were home, but escaped without injury.

All four are staying with friends in the community for now and received help from the Canadian Red Cross with emergency purchases such as clothing and food.

The fire, at 1436 Wyvern Rd., was reported around 11 a.m.

There was no immediate word on the cause.
