AMHERST – Amherst, like other communities across the country, was in a celebratory mood Sunday as it celebrated Canada’s 151st birthday.
Warm, humid conditions didn’t deter several hundred people from making their way to Victoria Square for an afternoon of activities that included music, food, demonstrations by JC’s Taekwon-Do and various games of chance.
Just after dusk, fireworks lit up the night sky at the Robb Centennial Complex.
There were numerous events across Cumberland County, including the Parrsboro Fire Department’s annual field day while there were festivities in Springhill (on Saturday evening), Oxford and Wallace.
Pugwash’s giant Canada Day tradition, the Gathering of the Clans, was held on Monday since July 1 fell on a Sunday this year.
