AMHERST – When the big tree is up at the corner of Victoria and Havelock Streets, we know Amherst is about to kick of the holiday season with a weekend packed with festive fun.
On Friday evening, the annual Christmas Light-Up begins at 6 p.m. in Victoria Square with live entertainment, free hot chocolate, and a special message from Santa. The whole community is invited to help count down the light-up and join in the sing-along at First Baptist Church with the ARHS band.
Saturday brings the annual Christmas parade starting at the intersection of Eddy and Victoria, and ending at Amherst Centre Mall with an award ceremony, live music, refreshments, and visits with Santa.
On Sunday morning, the tree for Boston makes its final stop in Nova Scotia at about 10:30 a.m. in the Atlantic Superstore parking lot.
The whole community is invited to gather for the send-off and enjoy live music, refreshments, and photos with the enormous Christmas tree that fills an entire transport truck trailer.
