Amherst Police responded to 105 complaints between Mon, Apr. 30, and Sun, May 6, 2018.

Monday

A vehicle was broken into on Davison Street. Stolen from the vehicle was an iPod, a wallet and credit cards. Police are investigating.

A 40-year-old female is facing four counts of fraud and four counts of possession of a forged document. The investigation began after a female reported that monies were missing from her bank account and that it appeared that someone had used fraudulent cheques. Investigation into the matter identified a female and she was arrested after she came to the Police Department. She was held in court and later released by a Judge to appear at Amherst Provincial Court on June 11th.

Tuesday

Police received a call that a youth had sent a Snap Chat video of himself consuming pills. Officers located the youth and he was transported to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre for treatment. No charges were laid in the incident.

A male is facing a resist arrest charge and several individuals are facing obstruction charges following an impaired driving investigation. Police received a call of a suspected impaired driver. An officer attended the home of the suspected driver and the male made efforts to avoid being arrested. No court date has been set and the investigation is still ongoing.

Wednesday

Officers received a complaint of a female yelling and screaming outside a Willow Street residence. Officers spoke to the female and her mother and discovered that the situation had calmed down. The female was warned to stay inside the home. No charges were laid.

A sudden death was reported in the Amherst area. A 62-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene. The death has been determined to be a result of natural causes.

Thursday

Officers are investigating a fraudulent cheque file involving losses of over $9,000 to an Amherst victim. The investigation is still continuing and no arrests have been made at this time.

A vehicle collision was reported in a South Albion Street parking lot. A delivery truck had backed over a motorcycle. No one was injured in the collision and no charges were laid in the incident.

Friday

A 22-year-old male is facing charges of resisting arrest, two counts of mischief and possession of methamphetamine. The male was accused of throwing rocks at a window at a Dickey Street residence. Police approached the male and attempted to arrest him however he initially resisted arrest before being brought under control. A quantity of methamphetamine was found on the male subsequent to his arrest. The male was held for court and later released by a Judge to appear in Court on May 28th for plea.

Police are investigating extensive damage done to a rental property. A male recently vacated the property and the landlord discovered holes in the walls and ruts in the lawn. Charges of mischief may be laid in the incident but the matter is still being investigated.

Saturday

Police received a complaint that a male had broken a vehicle window during an argument with a female at a South Albion Street hotel. The male was not located by police but officers know his identity and a mischief charge is likely to be laid.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the East Victoria Street area. A female and a male were arguing but police determined that no assaults had occurred. The male was allowed to leave the home to keep the peace. No charges were laid.

Sunday

Police responded to reports that a male was breaching his probation order at a local residence. The youth was on curfew condition to stay at the residence and police determined that he was not there. The youth was later located and held into custody due to multiple past breaches and sent to Waterville. No court date has been set at this time.

Police received a call that a female had shoplifted items from a Robert Angus Drive store. The female left the store prior to police arrival however a theft charge is likely to be laid in the case. No court date has been set
