Things didn’t turn out as expected when a woman looking to give a man the old heave-ho called police over the weekend.
Amherst Police responded to the Nov. 4th complaint when the woman sought help removing the unwanted male from the Prince Arthur Street residence. Police soon learned, however, it was the male’s residence and the woman had only just recently started living there.
After police were made aware of this, the woman decided to leave on her own.
This was just one of 93 complaints Amherst Police responded to over the course of the week beginning Mon, Oct. 30, and ending Sun, Nov. 5, 2017.
Monday
Police received a complaint of an assault that occurred against a youth. A child interview was conducted and the incident was deemed to be unfounded.
Officers received a complaint that a male had forged a female’s signature and had transferred the ownership of a vehicle into his name. Police are investigating the incident.
Tuesday
A resident reported that a West Pleasant Street residence was broken into. Money and a bankcard was stolen out of a purse. The investigation into the matter is continuing.
A fight involving two males was reported at a Lawrence Street business. A 29-year-old and a 36-year-old male were arrested at the scene. The males were later released without charges as no one wanted to proceed in the matter.
Wednesday
A female called police requesting that a male be removed from her home located in the East Pleasant Street area. Officers attended and removed a 50-year-old male from the home. No charges are expected to be laid.
Several blow up Halloween decorations were stolen from residences over the night of Halloween. A Park Street resident had a blow up ghost and a blow up grim reaper stolen. Another resident, located on Patterson Street, reported a blow up pumpkin, grim reaper, Frankenstein and cat with witches’ hat stolen. Thursday
A cyclist was injured after being hit by a motor vehicle near the intersection of Church Street and Robert Angus Drive. A vehicle on Church Street had performed a right hand turn onto Robert Angus Drive. The vehicle then performed a wide turn and started driving in the centre lane which is reserved for traffic in the opposite lane. The vehicle struck the bicyclist causing the vehicle’s windshield to be damaged. The bicyclist did not need medical attention. An 82-year-old male has been charged with failing to drive in the right hand lane.
A resident on York Street reported that unknown persons smashed glass on her driveway. Police are investigating the incident.
Friday
A traffic collision was reported on Albion Street near the Amherst Fire Department. One of the vehicles had to be towed from the scene and at least one person was injured. Officers are investigating to determine the cause of the collision. No charges have been laid at this time.
Police are investigating an incident of uttering threats involving two youths. One youth had threatened on social media to physically harm the other. Police spoke with the youth who wrote the message and she apologized for her actions. No charges are expected to be laid.
Saturday
A 44-year-old male is facing multiple breach charges after police did several compliance checks on the male. The male is currently on conditions to abide to a curfew and police could not locate him. The investigation is still ongoing.
Sunday
Officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Albion Street. The vehicle had been driving without any headlights on.
The vehicle fled from officers. Officers received a report shortly afterwards that a vehicle matching the same description had been stolen from a Spring Street residence. The vehicle was later reported on the train tracks near Queen Street extension. Officers had to move the vehicle off the tracks to prevent a possible collision with a train. Investigation lead to officers arresting a female on Church Street. The female resisted arrested and fought with officers upon her arrest. The 36-year-old female is facing a charge of theft of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police, two counts of assaulting a police officers and a breach of an undertaking. She is also facing several Motor Vehicle Act violations. The female was held for court until November 6th. She was then released on a Judge’s Undertaking and will next appear in court on November 27th for plea.
A break and enter was reported in from a local residence Drive area. Several items including money and jewelry was taken in the incident. Police are investigating.
