AMHERST – A 26-year-old male has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following an incident on Bayview Drive early Sunday. 

At approximately 4 a.m., Amherst Police responded to the residence after receiving a call through 911 that a person had been assaulted with a baseball bat. The suspect reportedly fled the residence and was known to the victim and witnesses. 

Adam Kevin McKay was arrested approximately two hours later by Cumberland RCMP.  He was returned to Amherst and held in custody and made a brief court appearance in provincial court this morning. 

He faces numerous charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, break and enter, uttering threats and breach of undertaking.

He has been remanded into custody and is set to appear in court on Friday, March 9.
