Amherst pair facing multiple drug charges following search of Durley Street home

AMHERST – Two Amherst residents are acing multiple drug charges following a traffic stop and subsequent search of a Durley Street residence on Aug. 2.

Police stopped a vehicle on Robert Angus Drive in Amherst and during a search of the vehicle a 38-year-old woman was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and cannabis marijuana.

Members of the Cumberland Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant on the Durley Street home and seized a significant amount of methamphetamine, three firearms and cannabis marijuana.

An indoor marijuana grow operation was dismantled and a 37-year-old man arrested.

The woman has been charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and cannabis marijuana and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

The man has been charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, production of cannabis marijuana, three counts of possessing a firearm while restricted, three counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm and three counts of unsafe storage of a firearm.

Both were released on an undertaking and ordered to return to provincial court in Amherst on Sept. 17.

The investigation is continuing.
