Amherst men facing drug charges following traffic stop

AMHERST – Two Amherst men are facing drug charges following a traffic stop on South Albion Street on Friday.

A quantity of crack cocaine, cocaine, marijuana, marijuana, shatter and prescription pills were seized during the traffic stop conducted by the Cumberland County Street Crime Enforcement Unit with assistance from Amherst Police and RCMP.
A 32-year man and a 29-year-old man are facing charges of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of codeine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis resin for the purpose of trafficking and dangerous driving.
Both men were arrested on scene and later released with an order to return to court Nov. 20 to face the charges.
