Alary fined for illegal tobacco possession

An Oxford man has received a $4,998 fine in Woodstock provincial court after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of unstamped tobacco products.

WOODSTOCK, N.B. – A 69-year-old Oxford man has received a large fine after pleading guilty to possessing unstamped tobacco products.

Jean Claude Alary was fined $4,999.88 during a court appearance in Woodstock, N.B. on Jan. 30.

On Nov. 2, 2017, members of the New Brunswick RCMP Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop on Highway 2 in Hartland, N.B. The traffic stop resulted in a seizure of more than 20,000 contraband cigarettes and 44 illegal cigars.
