Springhill fishing derby Saturday

The annual youth fishing derby put on by the Springhill Police Service takes place this Saturday, May 31, starting at 11 a.m.

SPRINGHILL – Dreams of tight lines and sport fishing will be realized this weekend in Springhill, where the Springhill Police Service is sponsoring the annual Youth Fishing Derby on Saturday.

Beginning at 11 a.m. and running until 2 p.m. at the Pit Pond across from the Fundy Bowling Lanes at 11 Industrial Park Dr., prized will be awarded for the longest fish in the ages-eight and under category, 9-12 years and 13-15.

Trout have been provided for the derby by the Nova Scotia Dept. of Agriculture and Fisheries and prizes have been provided by the Springhill Police Service, the Town of Springhill and D&J Home Hardware. A barbecue will be on site, provided by the Students Against Drunk Driving.

Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
