SPRINGHILL – Job fair provides opportunity to meet employers, educators
SPRINGHILL – Life changes await people who attend the 2014 Job Fair Thursday at the Springhill Community Centre.
“The purpose of this event is to provide information on opportunities with various employers and educational institutes in the area,” said Mitchell Scott, job developer at the Cumberland African Nova Scotian Association, the organization hosting the event. “There will be all kinds of different employers and education institutes at the job fair, and it’s open to the public, so it’s a real good chance for everyone to see who is hiring.”
People are more than welcome to bring their resume.
“We’re bringing in employers who are hiring, so there’s a chance of getting employment,” said Scott. “We’ve had people hired on the spot in the past.”
The fair will include employers from throughout Cumberland County and education institutes from throughout Nova Scotia.
“All together, we hope to have 30 or 40 different employers and educators, so there’s a good variety,” said Scott.
Employers include IMP, Poly Cello, the RCMP and the Springhill Institution, while educators include universities such as St. Francis Xavier and colleges such as Nova Scotia Community College.
“If your looking for work this is a great opportunity to find it because we have everyone under one tent,” said Scott.
The job fair runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
