Amherst Police responded to 102 complaints during the week of March 31 to April 6.
AMHERST – A 75-year-old man was taken to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre Sunday after being found lying in an alleyway near Prince Arthur Street.
The man was intoxicated.
It was one of 102 complaints handled by the Amherst Police Department between March 31 and April 6.
Also on Sunday, officers dealt with a complaint of a window being smashed at an apartment on Church Street.
A 19-year-old woman was identified as the culprit, but no charges are expected to be laid.
On Saturday, police responded to a fight at the Warehouse Café.
A 20-year-old man was engaged in an altercation with a bouncer after he was found to be in possession of outside alcohol.
The man was arrested and charged with two counts of breach of probation.
Police were called to a Prince Arthur Street restaurant to remove an intoxicated 23-year-old man from the premises.
Other occurrences included:
Police received reports of an assault that occurred at a Minto Street residence. An investigation led to assault charges against a 40-year-old male and a 34-year-old female. Both appeared at Amherst provincial court on April 7 for plea.
A 27-year-old male told police he was assaulted while at the downtown Tim Horton’s. A 19-year-old female was arrested by police and appeared at Amherst provincial court on April 7.
A 29-year-old male is facing a charge of failing to comply with his probation order after being spotted by officers walking on LaPlanche Street.
The male was outside contrary to his curfew conditions. He will appear in Court on April 28 for plea.
Police were called to a motor vehicle collision in the parking lot of the Amherst Centre Mall.
A transport truck attempting a right turn into the parking lot had gotten stuck in some snow and the trailer had slid into a parked vehicle.
No charges are expected to be laid.
Police received a call of a male passed out in a snowbank on Prince Arthur Street. A 75 year old male was transported by EHS to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre for observation.
APD responded to a theft complaint at a rooming house in the downtown area. The investigation into the matter is continuing.
A 38-year-old male is facing charges of breach of his curfew conditions after he was observed in surveillance video at an Amherst gas station.
Police were notified that there was a hit and run on Lawrence Street.
An unknown vehicle had struck a parked vehicle on the street. Police are investigating.
A male is facing two breaches to his undertaking following a disturbance complaint at a Church Street apartment. Police were called to the area after complaints that a male and female were arguing inside the home. None of the parties were there when police attended however the male is currently on curfew conditions to stay inside the residence.
Police were called to a local transition house where a female reported that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend.
The male had assaulted the female and also prevented her from dialling 911. A 32 year old male was arrested and charged with assault. He will appear on April 7th for plea at Amherst Provincial Court.
