Amherst is paving four streets this year through a tender council will award on Monday.
AMHERST – Amherst will award its capital paving tender to Costin Paving when council holds its regular meeting on Monday.
Costin Paving had the low bid of $159,258 and will complete the work over an 11-week period.
The total cost of paving the four streets is $166,000, but deputy CAO Jason MacDonald said staff are confident savings will be found in other projects.
The work includes paving Mallard Street, Herron Street, South Adelaide Street (from Prince Arthur to Victoria Street) and Hebert Street (from Victoria Street to Dale Street).
The town is also set to award a tender of $29,200 to Sansom Equipment to purchase a sewer lift pump at the Terrace Street Lift Station.
The original tender was for the supply and installation of the pump, but bids came in at $79,000, $19,000 higher than the $60,000 budget. The town cancelled the original tender and retendered for supply only. Town staff will install the pump.
The supplier will do the commissioning of the pump so it will be covered under warranty.
As well, the town will award a $46,783 tender to Jim Hatheway Ford for a one-ton truck and salt spreader, and Universal Truck and Trailer of Moncton will be awarded a $93,850 tender for a five-ton dump truck with plow.
The town is trading in two trucks as part of the tender.
