Amherst man faces three charges following altercation with police

A police officer was injured in an altercation with a 29-year-old Amherst man early Sunday. The individual is facing three charges in connection with the event.

AMHERST – A 29-year-old Amherst man will return to court on Dec. 17 to answer to three charges following an altercation with a town police officer.

Christopher Ryan Robichaud is charged with resisting arrest, obstruction of a police officer and assault causing bodily harm to a police officer after police responded to a fight complaint at an Amherst business shortly after 2 a.m. on Nov. 18.

During the altercation a member of the police department was injured.

Robichaud appeared in court in Amherst on Monday and has been released from custody with conditions.

A 23-year-old female was also arrested for obstruction of a police officer.

Police are continuing their investigation.
