HL: Burkes sentenced to a total of 240 days custody

AMHERST – Neil James Burke, 34, of Cedar Drive Amherst, was sentenced in Court on Monday to 30 days after pleading guilty to committing mischief by willfully damaging, without legal justification, a microwave, pot, plate and window of the victim, the value of which did not exceed $5,000.

Burke was also sentenced to 90 days custody for committing assault on the same victim, and 90 days for uttering a threat to cause death to two people. The sentences will be served consecutively.

The incidents occurred Sept. 4, 2011 in Amherst.

Burke was also sentenced in court on Monday to 30 days custody consecutive to other sentences and a two-year driving prohibition for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol.

The incident occurred March 12 in Amherst.


HL: Williams sentenced to 30 days for uttering threats, exposing self

AMHERST – Darrell Shawn Williams, 47, of Crescent Avenue, Amherst was sentenced to 30 days custody, concurrent with other sentences, in court on Monday after pleading guilty to uttering threat to cause death.

The incident occurred Sept. 10, 2011 in Amherst.

Williams was also sentence to 30 days, concurrent with other sentences, after pleading guilty on Monday to committing and indecent act by exposing his penis in the presence of a victim.

The incident occurred June 4, 2011, in Amherst.


HL: Rushton pleads guilty to drinking and driving

AMHERST – Greg Rushton, 57, of Port Howe, Nova Scotia, pleaded guilty in court on Tuesday to operating a motor vehicle while his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

Rushton will be sentenced Nov. 9, at 1:30 p.m.

The incident occurred Oct. 8, in Port Howe.


HL: Smith sentenced to fine, driving prohibition

AMHERST – Timothy Ross Smith, 36, of Belliveau Street Amherst, was sentence to a fine of $1,150, and a one-year driving prohibition in court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to driving a motor vehicle while the concentration of alcohol in his blood exceeded .08 per cent.

The incident occurred May 1, in Amherst.


HL: McIsaac sentenced to four months custody

AMHERST – Laura Lynn McIsaac, 41, of Church Street, Amherst, was sentenced to four months custody, consecutive to other sentences, 12 months probation, and a one-year driving prohibition, in court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to operating a motor vehicle while disqualified from doing so.

The incident occurred Feb. 17, in Pugwash.


HL: Reid found guilty of failing to comply, possession

AMHERST – Tony James Gregory Reid, 20, of Willow Street, Amherst, was found guilty in court on Tuesday of failing to comply with a probation order to not own, possess or carry any weapons, firearms, ammunition or explosive substances.

The incident occurred Apr. 27, 2011 in Amherst.

Reid was also found guilt on Tuesday of failing to comply with an order to not consume alcohol or any other intoxication substance.

The incident occurred July 7, 2010 in Amherst.

Reid also pleaded guilty to possessing marijuana and possessing methylenedioxyamphetamine, or speed.

The incidents occurred Apr. 27, 2011 in Amherst.


HL: Warren to be sentenced for possession in February

AMHERST – Aubrey Frank Warren, 58, of River Philip, was not present in court on Tuesday and had his sentencing adjourned to Feb. 7, at 9:30 a.m., after pleading guilty to the unlawful possession of cocaine and marijuana.

The incidents occurred Nov. 6, in River Philip.
