TIDNISH - The 33rd annual Rodney Estabrooks Muscular Dystrophy Slo-Pitch Tournament kicks off Friday in Tidnish, with all proceeds going to muscular dystrophy research.
The tournament runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and is named in honour of Rodney Estabrooks, who lost his life to Muscular Dystrophy at age 16 in 1986. His older brother, Vince, also lost his battle with MD several years earlier.
The tournament has raised more than $120,000 since the beginning.
The tournament is held at the Rodney Estabrooks Memorial Sports Complex.
Besides slo-pitch action, there will be a number of other events at the complex Saturday and Sunday, including a washer toss tournament.
Washer toss runs Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
On Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, the Tidnish Community Centre will host a bake and craft sale.
The community centre will be open all day and all night on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to midnight.
