Declared dangerous offender

Harvey Joseph Venus, 32, of Moncton, N.B., was declared a dangerous offender in Amherst Provincial Court this week after pleading guilty to sexually touching a person under the age of 16.

Venus was sentenced to four years custody.

The incident occurred Nov. 26, 2017, in Westchester.

Angus fined

Paul Roderick Angus, 51, of South Pugwash, was handed a conditional discharge, 12 months probation, and fined $100 after pleading guilty to uttering a death threat.

The incident occurred July 14, 2017, in Linden.

Burke pleads guilty  

Jordan Kenneth Charles Burke, 24, Amherst, will return to court for sentencing Feb. 16, after pleading guilty to assault and breaching a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour on Jan. 20, 2018; committing an act of mischief by damaging an RCMP vehicle, assaulting a peace officer, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, breaching a probation order to keep the peace, resisting arrest on Jan. 22, 2018; and uttering a threat to cause bodily harm on Jan. 23, 2018.

The incidents occurred in Wentworth.

Harrison fined

Jonah George Harrison, 35, of Amherst, was fined $1,800 and handed a one-year driving prohibition after pleading guilty to impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

The incident occurred Aug. 16, 2017, in Truro Heights.

Huston receives conditional sentence

Shawn Arthur Huston, 48, of Oxford, was handed a global total of 10 months condition sentencing, and fined $300 after pleading guilty to aggravated assault and committing an act of mischief by throwing a cellphone into a river on July 8, 2017; threatening to cause bodily harm and operating a motor vehicle while disqualified on Nov. 11, 2017; and two counts of breaching a recognizance by failing to abstain from alcohol and violating a no contact order on Nov. 10, 2017.

The incidents occurred in Oxford.

Schieffer loses license

Lawrence Franklin Schieffer, 72, of Parrsboro, was handed a $1,300 fine and prohibited from driving for one year after pleading guilty to operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration in excess of .08 per cent.

The incident occurred Sept. 24, 2017, in Parrsboro.

Trimm fined

James Malcolm Cunningham Trimm, 42, of Springhill, was fined $195 after pleading guilty to theft under $5,000.

The incident occurred May 18, 2016, in Springhill.

Westhaver fined

Kirk James Westhaver, 28, of Oxford, was handed six months probation and fined $100 after pleading guilty to uttering a threat to cause bodily harm.

The incident occurred Oct. 26, 2017, in West Pugwash.

Wilton loses license

Ronald David Wilton, 70, of Westchester, was fined $1,800 and prohibited from driving for 12 months after pleading guilty to operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration in excess of .08 per cent.

The incident occurred Nov. 26, 2017, in Westchester.
