Two charged with drug offences following search of Amherst residence

Two Amherst residents have been charged with drug offences following a search of a residence in the town on Saturday.

The Cumberland County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit searched the home on Brownell Avenue with assistance from the Cumberland RCMP and the Amherst Police. During the search, quantities of cocaine, psilocybin, marijuana, LSD, MDMA, shatter and prescription pills were seized, along with drug paraphernalia and cash.

A 26-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman have been charged with seven counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.

Both have been released from custody and will return to court in Amherst on Oct. 30.

The investigation is ongoing.
