AMHERST – A chain reaction created by the Victoria Street fire has bumped Dick’s Jamboree to a new location at the Heartz Hall in Amherst.
“The show must go on,” said Dick Bristol, who is the founder of Dick’s Jamboree.
The fire destroyed Dooly’s, which is now renovating in its new location, which was the former location of Dick’s Jamboree on the corner of Lansdowne Avenue and Victoria Street West.
“It was a good building,” said Bristol, who had used the building for the last year-and-a-half. “We liked it and the landlord was very good to us.
“But the new building is bigger. We should be able to hold another 50 to 75 people,” he added. “Before we had to turn people away and now we don’t have to turn them away.”
Heartz Hall is connected to Trinity-St. Stephen’s United Church in downtown Amherst on Ratchford Street. It happens to be right beside Amherst Town Hall, which is also presently in the process of moving to the old Dominion Building.
The house band will perform its first gig on Halloween and will continue to play every Wednesday night at Heartz Hall beginning at 7 p.m.
“The doors open at 6 p.m.,” said Bristol.
