You can find us on Smith Road working hard for the furbabies.
Please remember our funding from the Town of Amherst and the municipality only covers our operating budget for three months. The rest of the time we rely on donations, adoption fees and fundraising to keep our shelter afloat.
Old Barnaby just wanted to set the record straight in case you all thought we were fully funded which is not true (we wish)!
Thanks to Holly Hutchinson for popping out with some much needed wish list items for us.
Check out our wish list items on Facebook. We are in dire need of soft dog and cat food, bleach, medium size compost bags, white computer paper and white out.
Congratulations to cats Meow, Ojay, Furball and Kaiser as they head to their forever families.
Thank you to the Aulac Big Stop for making us their Table for a Cause recipient and raising $371.41.
And another big shout out goes to the Tantramar Regional High School dragon boat team In Decent Seas for raising $893.42 for us.
Another thank you to the Amherst Jr. Ramblers organization for making a $200 donation towards some Fromm food for the shelter. Our shelter feeds Fromm dry food from Park Your Paws exclusively.
We do this because switching food all the time can cause diarrhea and stomach upset in the animals. So please remember when you donate a bag of dry food to us from another brand we send it off to other animals in need.
We still feed all brands of wet food and treats.
If you would like to make a donation towards our food you can drop into Park Your Paws and see Carrie!
Look for our shelter colouring books at $5 each at Park Your Paws, Maritime Mosaic and the Amherst Veterinary Hospital all proceeds go towards our vet costs.
Until next time keep your tail in the air and your heart open wide and don't forget us at the LA Animal Shelter, the little shelter with the big heart.
Shelter Tales appears every two weeks in the Amherst News
