Canada 150 theme of this year’s Pumpkin People

October has begun with chilly mornings and evenings but plenty of sunshine.

Soon our beautiful roadside banners will be taken down and stored away until next spring. The Shore Drive Association has ordered a few new ones, which will go up next year. Each year we try to replace the ones that have faded or are tattered.
Mark your calendar for Saturday, Oct. 7, to enjoy the annual fish fry supper put on by the Chignecto-Glooscap Snowmobile Association. It will take place from 4:30-6 p.m. at the FPW Fire Hall. Takeouts are available at 4 p.m.
I am expecting visits from some "Pumpkin People" soon. The theme this year is Canada 150. Please get your creative juices flowing and create a pumpkin person/family, etc. Many people enjoy seeing the creations, which are erected on the FPW field each fall.
November is usually a busy month as Christmas approaches. The Shore Drive Community Development Association will host its annual "Shop My Closet" and flu clinic in November. Donations of winter clothing will be gladly accepted and can be dropped off at Barb Aris's or Sharon Benjamin's to be sorted and stored. I will publish dates once they are confirmed.
Many cottage owners and summer residents have closed up their dwellings and hopefully will return to visit next year.
I would like to wish Joan Czapalay a belated happy birthday. Joan summers here in her Ward's Brook home and has many friends in the area.
The Foxy Lady is out of news for now. Have a great week, everyone.
