Hey y'all it's Barnaby back with all the skinny from the Lillian Allbon Cumberland County Animal Shelter on Smith Road.
The L.A. Animal shelter will take part in this Saturday's Pride Parade in downtown Amherst. If you would like to walk with us and your dog please meet us at the old court house at 1:30 pm, as the parade begins at 2 p.m. If you have adopted a dog from us and they are dog friendly please join us!
The town of Amherst will hold its Big Block Dog Walk on Tuesday, June 26 at 6 p.m. We will meet in Victoria Square and go for a group stroll. Dog friendly dogs are welcome! As always if you have adopted a dog from us we would love to see you!
Our Pet of the Week is three-year-old male Am Staff mix Oreo. We have featured Oreo a few times in the hopes that we can find him a loving home. Oreo is our longest resident at the shelter and he has watched his fellow shelter dogs come and go.
Oreo is not perfect, but he is worth the work. Oreo gets very excited, and he can be jumpy and will sometimes mouth your hands. He means no harm he is just wanting attention. Oreo is smart, good off leash and loves to go for walks. He enjoys cuddles and belly rubs.
No cats for Oreo and we are slowly testing him with other dogs. Oreo needs an active family with no small children that can commit to positive methods of obedience training. For more information check out his picture on Facebook or our website, or call us at 902-661-PAWS.
Danny B Studios has chosen the L.A. Animal Shelter to be their charity of the month. Danny B is a Nova Scotia artist who uses watercolours to paint the most amazing animal images. She will be auctioning off paintings and prints on her Facebook page Danny B Studios and on Etsy with proceeds to our shelter. Please take time to check out her wonderful work.
Thank you to the amazing crew from Emmerson Packaging. They came out and spruced up our outdoor kennel area on the weekend. They worked hard and it looks great! Thank you all so much.
We appreciate the support Emmerson Packaging and its employees give the shelter.
That's all for now. Until next time keep your tail in the air and your heart open wide and don't forget us here the LA Animal Shelter. We are the little shelter with the big heart.
Shelter Tales appears bi-weekly in the Amherst News.
