We are pleased to announce that the Town of Amherst has joined the provincial Communities in Bloom NS edition. Communities in Bloom is a Canadian non-profit organization that encourages the enhancement of communities throughout Canada by providing a platform based on a commitment to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility, and community beautification. This provincial competition will judge communities based on the following six criteria: Tidiness, Environmental Action, Heritage Conservation, Urban Forestry, Landscape, and Floral Displays.

Along with the six criteria, the overall contributions of the town, businesses and institutions, and residents will also be taken into consideration. It is our hope that you will join the community in our efforts to help keep Amherst beautiful and tidy for all to enjoy.

We are currently seeking summer students to join the ‘A’ team and help Amherst in achieving its goal to be the healthiest, most active community in Nova Scotia. Grounds maintenance students are also needed to help to make Amherst a healthier place to live, work, and play.
