Williamsdale News with Margaret Reid

Good morning everyone and I hope you have had a nice summer. We seem to wait for summer so long and then it is gone before you know.

Most of the blueberries have been harvested now. I think there was a fairly good crop this year, but the price is not very good.
Wendell and Wendy Reid, were among the many folks who went to watch the horse pulls at the Oxford Exhibition. Wendell and Margaret went to watch the Parade on Saturday afternoon. My favourite part of the exhibition has always been, to watch the parade.
Helen Meredith of Lower Onslow was a recent supper guest with recently with Mervyn and Mary Esther Smith and Blaine Smith.
Jim and Norma Reid of Bridgewater were recent dinner visitors with his parents, Wendell and Margaret Reid. Jim and Norma spent two weeks at the Reid cottage at Pipes Beach, Northport.
There was a good number in attendance at a special meeting in the Millvale United Baptist Church on Friday evening. The meeting was chaired by Bruce Stewart, and several items were discussed.
Irven MacCormick of Rodney was visiting recently with Mervyn and Mary Esther Smith of Millvale.
Sherry Maston of Halifax and John and Janice Balcolm of Lower Sackville visited with Greg and Margo Patriquin of Collingwood recently. Kya Milton was visiting her parents from the NSCC in Truro.
Mary Esther Smith was a recent visitor with Doug Gogan of Thomson on Aug.31. She took him a dish of fresh blueberries and wished him a Happy Birthday! Congratulations Doug!
Wendy Reid is taking her vacation, and spending some time at the Reid cottage in Northport.
Margo Patriquin, Logan and Lexie Patriquin, Mary Esther Smith, and Kya Milton were visiting recently with Gordon and Jeannie MacCallum of Moncton .
Jeanne Knol and son Griffon of Oxford accompanied Jeanne’s mother, Mary Esther Smith of Millvale to Amherst to do some shopping on Friday. While there, they happened to meet Laverne Austin of Pugwash (formerly of Collingwood) and they had a very nice chat with her.
Supper guests with Mervyn and Mary Esther Smith on Sunday were Jeanne Knol and children, Quinn, Makenna, Holly and Griffen of Oxford.
The group Silver Rose presented a gospel concert at the Thomson United Church on Sunday evening. It was a very good concert, and a delicious lunch was served at the close of the evening. Laurie Macleod of oxford conducted the service.
Good luck to Holly Knol and Lexie Patriquin and to all the other little students, who are starting school for the first time this year. It is a huge step in the life of a child (and also for the parents) when your little one starts school for the first time.
Quote: “The perfect example of the “power of prayer” is when a blizzard closes the school on the day of a big exam.”
