September has been a beautiful month so far.
The trees are gradually beginning to display their vibrant colours, as we head into fall. Soon, the mornings will take on a familiar chill and the wood fires will feel cozy and welcoming.
Students and staff have completed their first week of the school year.
This Saturday, Sept. 16, the inaugural Walter Lake Memorial Bass Fishing Derby will take place on the beach (turn left) at the end of Cochrane Road in Fox River. Registration will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. for juniors (under 16) and seniors at a cost of $10 per entry. Please register at Walter's cottage on the beach. Refreshments will be available as well as bait and tackle for sale. Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded in each category. Proceeds will go the Age of Sail Museum.
The Shore Drive Community Development Association will sponsor an evening of piano music by Harry Bentham on Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Diligent River Hall, beginning at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Various styles of piano music will be featured: jazz, swing, etc. Admission for the concert will be donations at the door.
If you have warm winter clothing and footwear that you no longer need, think about donating items for the Shore Drive Association's "Shop My Closet" held in November. Items may be dropped off at Barb Aris's or Sharon Benjamin's.
The Foxy Lady is out of news for now. Have a great week, everyone.
