Trust all you Moms had a wonderful Mother’s Day. I know I did. Aren’t we all so blessed?
Sympathy goes out to son, Desmond, and all family members, on the passing of Robert (Bobby) Dickson, on May 8, in NCMH, Pugwash. Many of you will recall when Bobby and his late wife, Sheila, ran Shillelagh Sheila’s Country Inn (now Inn the Elms) until 2011.
Rev. Meggin King is rejoicing on the birth of a new granddaughter, Penelope Elyse, born to Brodie and Philip Decaire, Newmarket, Ont., on April 30. No doubt, their lucky Penny.
Birthday wishes go out this week to grandson, Michael Patterson, Hastings; Rachel Trenholm, Port Howe; Diane Reid, Gulf Shore; Esther MacKenzie, Malagash; Rhonda Ferdinand and Wendy Wells, Wallace Bay; Charlene Langille, Pugwash Jct; Jenette Webb, S. Pugwash; Wilma Patterson, Maddison Brown, Jordan Reid, and Gary Gullens, Pugwash.
Reg and Sophie Briggs, Hamilton, Ont., spent a week visiting his father, Rollie Lockhart, and other friends and relatives. They returned home on Sunday.
A very successful Fashion Show was held on Thursday evening at the Curling Rink, with proceeds going to Calvary United Church, Port Howe. I understand the Cake Auction for HarbourFest, held at the Catholic Church on Friday, was another success.
On Tuesday, The NCMH Auxiliary took their turn hosting the Annual N.S. Association of Health Auxiliaries – Northern Regional Meeting, at the Legion, Pugwash. Auxiliaries from Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, All Saints Hospital, Springhill, Colchester Regional, Truro, Cumberland Health Care, Nappan, and Lillian Fraser Memorial, Tatamagouche, attended, with approximately 60 people for a lovely luncheon, catered to by the Legion. Ladies from the Pugwash group all modeled fashions from our hospital Thrift Shop. A great time was reported by all.
Ella Lockhart, Westchester, visited her sister, Shirley White, overnight on Thursday. On Friday they shopped in Amherst. On Saturday, Shirley accompanied Ronalda and Barry Smith to Truro and enjoyed a Mother’s Day Dinner early. Curtis’s gift to his mom was lobsters. June Thurber visited Shirley on Saturday.
Eldon and Janice Mundle enjoyed dinner on Sunday evening with Sue, Steve and Chad Darragh. Rashneet Singh and her new baby boy, Garbaaz, visited the Mundles on Sunday afternoon.
Danny Patriquin, Conns Mills, and Peggy Allen were callers with Mary Doyle this week.
I enjoyed a lovely meal at the Sandpiper Restaurant on Friday, along with Bill and Diana MacKay, compliments of Cecil and Margaret Morton, Ottawa. They are longtime friends of Bill and Diana, but they enjoy my news in the Citizen, so wanted to meet me, too. I do not have room to go into detail, but it was very enjoyable, and I have two new friends. Thanks you so much. Hugs.
Along with my usual callers, had lots of new visitors this week, those being: Marilyn Williams, Thelma Colbourne, Rev. Meggin King, Norma Mundle and Eleanor Conrad.
Daughter Denise treated me and some family members to lobster rolls, salads and cheesecake on Saturday, and a beautiful kitchen gift from them all, and later for a long three-hour car ride throughout North Wallace, Fox Harbour and Malagash. Places I did not know even existed. Very enjoyable.
“Thought for the week: I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.” – Jennifer Unlimited.
