Hello from beautiful downtown New Salem.

It's another season of scallop fishing for 2017 and I'd like to wish our fishermen a safe and prosperous season.

The handmade quilt that was donated by Irene Morris was drawn for at the Christmas concert on Dec. 23. The lucky winner was Martha Thompson. A total of $700 was raised and donated to The Advocate School Hot Lunch Program.

On Saturday, Jan. 14 open mic is back at the Advocate Fire Hall at 7 p.m. There will be a canteen and 50/50 draw and donations accepted at the door. Any musicians are welcome to attend. Come on out for a fun evening of music.

On Friday, Jan. 20 Spencer's Island Bingo will be held at the Advocate Fire Hall at 7 p.m. Come on out for an evening of fun.

That’s it for this week. Have a great week, everyone, and enjoy your family and friends.
